Domaine le l’Agramante is a project of passion begun by Sicilian Carlo La Rocca 2018, who quit his job as an engineer in France to begin growing and making wine in the Southern Rhône Valley, in the town of Sabran. ‘M’Arricriu’ (‘I enjoy life’ in Sicilian) is 35% Grenache, 30% Cinsault, 25% Syrah, and 10% Counoise from goblet-trained vines on a windy, south-facing, terraced, sandy and silty wineyard. Vine age is 16 to 60 years old and farming is organic. All of the varieties are destemmed and co-fermented with indigenous yeast. Six days of maceration and 5 months of aging in stainless steel. No fining or filtering before bottling and minimal SO2 added. The wine is spicy, bright, and light on its feet (only 12.5% alcohol). If you’ve grown weary of heavy, high-octane Southern Rhône wines, this will be the perfect antidote.
